Marzamemi (25 km – 30 minutes)
An ancient fishing village, Marzamemi is a place with a truly magical atmosphere. Its heart is Piazza Regina Margherita, surrounded by former fishermen’s houses now home to restaurants and artisan boutiques. The Tonnara di Marzamemi, dating back to the 17th century, bears witness to the long tradition of bluefin tuna fishing. Here you can enjoy local specialities such as bottarga and smoked tuna, accompanied by a glass of local wine.
Vendicari Nature Reserve (15 km – 20 minutes)
A paradise for nature lovers, the Vendicari Nature Reserve is a protected area characterised by lagoons, sand dunes and unspoilt beaches. Among the most evocative are Calamosche, with its crystal-clear waters sheltered from the wind by rocky cliffs, and Marianelli, ideal for those seeking a quiet and peaceful setting. The reserve is also home to the Swabian Tower and the ruins of an ancient tuna-processing plant, as well as numerous species of migratory birds, including flamingos and herons.
Fontane Bianche (30 km – 35 minutes)
One of the most famous beaches along the Syracuse coast, Fontane Bianche is known for its white sand and turquoise sea. Its name comes from the freshwater springs that flow beneath the sand. This seaside resort is ideal for families and offers both well-equipped beach clubs and free-access areas, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.
Punta Secca (70 km – 1 hour and 20 minutes)
Known as the seaside location of the famous Inspector Montalbano house, Punta Secca is a small fishing village with an authentic atmosphere. The lighthouse, standing 34 metres high, is one of the area’s landmarks. The seafront is lined with seafood restaurants where you can enjoy traditional dishes such as sea urchin spaghetti and the catch of the day.
